Property Description
Step back into the mid 1860's with this well constructed brick farmhouse with wide centered hallway. Approximately 30-35 acres of the 100+ acres of ground is tillable. Great possibility for equestrian use. The remainder is currently wooded but was once a pasture for grazing sheep and dairy cattle. Nestled along the scenic Rockledge Dr., the farm consists of a 3400+ sq ft stately brick home with 6 BR, 2 and a half baths (one of which is located on the third floor. All 3 stories of finished space await your touch. The two bedrooms on the third floor were built in 1958. The former Summer kitchen was converted and is currently used as a dining room. There is an enclosed large back porch/mud room to the rear adjacent to the Laundry Room. The rear entry to the mud room is off a large side patio. Outbuildings include a 1930's rebuilt barn, a timber frame workshop built by one of the owners in 1986, wagon and corn crib building and no longer used milk parlor. Some of the tillable acreage has grown up but can easily brought back by renting to a close neighbor. In 2000 when the outside generator was installed significant electrical improvements including a second electrical panel and upgrade to a 200 amp service were completed. Central air conditioning was added in 2010. In that same year the upstairs full bathroom was refurbished with a newer walk-in tub/shower enclosure and copper water lines except lines serving the to the 3rd floor bathroom were replaced with PEX water system. In 2012, new rain gutters, hangars and downspouts were installed along with the replacement of all the underlying fascia and roof vents (with interior screen mesh). In 2019, a new hot water heater, and washer and dryer were installed and the house and workshop roofs were caulked and painted (primer and finish coat). Also in 2019 the wooden shutters were replaced with new vinyl shutters, and the well was refurbished by pulling all of the well pipe, installing a new submersible pump and new control box along with related components of the well head. In the summer of 2020 all the exterior woodwork on the house was painted. There remains a 1970's solar collection system on the south side of the home with connection to the hot water tank in the basement. This system preheated water running into the hot water heater. Because of a leak developed in 2018 and was disconnected. The still serviceable components (except for the storage tank) remain and include the anti-freeze line running to the exterior solar panel so that the solar panels can still be used or replaced with newer technology if desired by the new homeowner.
